Fifteen years after its opening, the Ondrej Nepela Arena is undergoing a comprehensive renovation, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure upgrades. A key part of this modernization is the transformation of the center-hung LED cube, along with enhancements to its hardware and software systems.
The redesigned LED cube features a sleek, modern aesthetic. The previous cube crown – comprising four scoreboards and four corner totems – has been removed, along with the lower LED ring, creating a cleaner, more contemporary look.
While the main structure of the cube remains, the original LED panels have been replaced with newest high-resolution Colosseo VISION LED panels that offer double the pixel density of the previous setup. Additionally, a lower cube section has been integrated, mirroring the 360-degree LED display of the main body. The entire cube is now built with advanced 4mm pixel-pitch LED panels, ensuring superior visual performance.
Beyond the LED cube, the stadium’s infrastructure has received significant upgrades. Enhancements include a fully modernized press center, upgraded audio system, improved timing & scoring solutions, and a robust new network infrastructure. The cube’s control system – Colosseo Single Media Platform – has also been enhanced with updated software and hardware. Furthermore, the renovation introduces four new 4K cameras, a wireless video transmission system, and 20 sports clocks strategically placed in locker rooms and stadium corridors.
